Rockstar Rehab

As a runner myself, I understand how frustrating it can be to have your progress held back over and over again by injuries.

Every time you think you’re starting to get somewhere with your training, something seems to happen. Even when you’ve followed professional advice.

Chris Kitson in the gym

With a Masters Degree in musculoskeletal therapy, published articles in popular running magazines, teaching therapy in the profession, as well as over a decade of coaching runners in both Personal Training and Strength and Conditioning formats, you can be sure you’re in safe hands.

I promise to take the time to really listen and get to the bottom of the issue, before developing a bespoke rehab plan to get you back on track and running better than ever!

Most runners I see have either tried to manage injuries themselves and got into a bit of a tangle, or have seen another professional and unfortunately not had the successful outcome they were looking for in the long term.

If we work together, there are no ‘cookie cutter’ programs, or ‘try an easy run after a couple of weeks off and we’ll see how it goes’. That’s not rehab. That’s crossing your fingers and hoping for the best.

Let’s do this thing properly and get you back to what you love doing best.

Chris Kitson

I have arthritis in my hip and nothing or no one was helping me with the pain. Physiotherapists only made it worse - until I was recommended to see Chris. His knowledge is astounding. He created a program for me that started off gently and gradually increased the strength in my supporting muscles. I am now virtually pain-free thanks to him. Can’t recommend highly enough.

This is where working with me is different.

I speak with runners day in day out and can give you a specific plan to address any deficits that show up in your thorough assessment as well as giving you a specific program to show you which running sessions to be doing as you return back from injury when the time is right.

I can help you with all common running injuries including; Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, patellofemoral pain, ITB syndrome as well as ‘shin splints’, and calf pain.

If it’s stopping you, or hindering your running, I’m your guy!

I’m not a fan of stopping people running unless there’s a VERY good reason. You can rest assured we’ll find the quickest, and most effective way for you to return to your sport in the safest manner possible. Using methods all in line with the latest research.

Just looking to feel a bit more loose and fresh for a race or during a tough training block? Hey I can help there too!

Running, like any sport has its own specific demands, which need to be fully understood and factored into your rehab. With over 80% of runners getting injured every year, it’s clear that there’s more we need to do aside from the ‘standard’ level of care.

FAQs

Face to face sessions

Where are you located?

Just off junction 28 of the M62 close to the Village Hotel, Morley. You’ll receive this information in your appointment confirmation, but just in case, our address is:

Rockstar Rehab (Inside Met Con Leeds)

Topcliffe Mill, Topcliffe Lane

Morley

LS27 0HL

What do I need to bring with me?

Just yourself, clothes which are easy to move and run in, as well as your preferred pair of running trainers. If you are on Strava or another similar platform which shows your running data, that would also be very useful so we can take a look at your current training.

What clothes do I need to wear?

Running gear is generally ideal, however as long as you can move easily in the clothing and you don’t mind running in it (if applicable on the day), then that’s fine. Ideally we do want to access the skin around the problem area if possible.

Can I get changed at the clinic?

Yes there are 2 dedicated changing rooms as well as 2 unisex toilets available at the clinic.

Do you have free parking at the clinic?

Yes there is free parking available in the mill complex, as well as plenty of roadside parking if the car park is full.

I have other questions. How can I contact you?

No problem at all. Feel free complete the contact form, or alternatively, please drop me an email at: chris@rockstarrunners.com and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Online sessions

When and how will I receive a link for my session?

Once I have received your booking through our online booking site, you will receive a Zoom link via email for your session within 48-hours of booking. If you haven’t received a link for any reason, please check your junk mail and/or contact me at: chris@rockstarrunners.com

What clothes do I need to wear?

Please wear clothes which are easy to move in, and ideally which give a visual of the skin around the problem area/s. You will be taken through a physical assessment, so please wear suitable clothing for this.

How much space do I need?

You don’t need much space, however you will be taken through a physical assessment which requires you to be able to do movements such as squats and lunges, depending on the presenting complaint.

Where should I be?

If you could please make sure that you are in a quiet and private place with no distractions that would be great. I want you get the best out of our time together, and I may be asking for sensitive information during your session.

What equipment do I need?

The online sessions are typically run through the software ‘Zoom’. You can use your phone, tablet, laptop, or PC as long as the device has some form of camera and microphone access so that we can see and hear each other clearly. If you can please make sure that you’re in a room with good internet connection, that is also very important.

How can you assess the area if it’s over the internet?

The online assessments are actually quite similar to face to face sessions with some adaptations. As I can’t physically touch the affected area/s, you may be asked to palpate and report your symptoms to me. Also props such as chairs may be useful to help with some of the more passive assessments. If I suspect after your booking that you may require a face to face session, I will be in contact with a suggestion.

What are the success rates compared to face to face sessions?

The success rate of online therapy sessions is actually just as good as face to face. The assessments are slightly different occasionally, but this actually creates opportunity for more questions which can help further. If you have any concerns at all, please book a face to face session, or contact me at: chris@rockstarrunners.com
